Dr. Roache is board-certified in both orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. He originally completed fellowship training in shoulder joint replacement surgery, then later completed a fellowship in rotator cuff surgery in Zurich.
He shifted his practice specialty from shoulder joint replacement surgery to rotator cuff repair surgery, focusing his specialty on joint preservation and regenerative surgery. He uses the Regeneten bioinductive implant to treat rotator cuff injury by inducing tendon healing.
He has developed an opiate sparing pathway and integrative approach to maximize patient recovery. This includes a multimodal approach to lower post-op pain and includes acupuncture, chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, yoga, as well as physical therapy as adjuncts to minimally-invasive arthroscopic surgery.
As a former NCAA nationally ranked pole-vaulter, Dr. Roache brings an athlete’s unique perspective on body and movement to injury recovery. Outside of his surgical practice he has developed injury prevention programs for yoga teachers and trainers. His personal interest in yoga began more than a decade ago. Since then, he has been teaching anatomy to yoga teachers and conducting shoulder safe yoga workshops to prevent injury.
He founded and is CEO of ShoulderEducation.com which is designed to help patients better understand their injury and treatment options. He is also the author of “The Shoulder Patient’s Handbook: A Shoulder Surgeon’s Guide to Rotator Cuff Injuries and Other Common Shoulder Problems.
