How Gender Influences Heart Health Is The Topic For Two Talks Sponsored By Sonoma Valley Hospital

Sonoma Valley Hospital’s Conversation With A Doctor series kicks off the new year with two online talks about the impact of gender on heart health for men and women.  Discussing Women’s Heart Health will be Dr. Ines Sherifi and presenting Men’s Heart Health will be Dr. Alex Rainow. Both speakers are cardiologists with MarinHealth Cardiology. The virtual talks will be hosted by Vintage House and are open to the community without cost.

According to the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease and Infection Control, heart disease is a significant concern for both women and men as they age. The talks will explore how gender influences the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease and recovery from cardiac events.

There will be ample time for Q&A following the main presentation. Scheduled talks are planned as follows.

Women’s Heart Health, Monday, February 14 from 11:00 to 12:00 pm with

Conversation With A Doctor” is an informational series sponsored by Sonoma Valley Hospital, providing an opportunity for community members to meet physicians associated with the Hospital and to learn more about their areas of expertise.

Ines Sherifi, MD, MSc is a general cardiologist and imaging specialist.  She received her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical engineering at MIT and then completed medical studies and residency at the University of Toronto.  She additionally completed a Master’s degree in Paris at the Univesite Paris Diderot.  She trained in cardiology at the prestigious program led by Dr. Valentin Fuster at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and then served as an attending cardiologist at Weill Cornell Medical College both as a cardiologist and imaging specialist in the echocardiography, vascular medicine and nuclear imaging laboratories.  She has a special interest in women’s health with an emphasis on acknowledging and treating cardiovascular conditions that present differently in women.  She is with MarinHealth Cardiology Clinics in Novato and Sonoma, both are UCSF Health clinics.

Alex Rainow, MD, MS is a clinical cardiologist who specializes in cardiovascular disease. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine and his cardiology fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Prior to coming to Sonoma, he was a partner in Heartwell LLP, which is a part of Baptist Health (Miami). He is with MarinHealth Cardiology-Sonoma Valley, a UCSF Health Clinic
